Hiking in Utah

So mike and i have been on a few hikes this summer. we hiked the "Y" once with Mike's sis Aubrey, her husband Blake and their pup Mabel (Bailey's sis). i must say hiking the Y was a killer(I had forgotten how difficult and steep it is all the way up). I think thats why there are only 2 pics to show for it, we were too tired to think of taking photos.
We also hiked Provo Canyon a couple of times, which is much better on your legs than the Y because it's mostly flat, the down fall to this particular hike is that you can get carried away and walk a long distance before you realize you should have turned around a long time ago. The end to this hike is impossible to reach, in my opinion. we walked more that 5 miles up and from what Mike tells me, we had quite a bit longer to reach the end. Despite the aches we got from walking 10 MILES on a HOT summer day, it was very fun mostly because Bailey never stopped making us laugh and smile! :)

Here are few pictures of our summer hiking days.

THE Y

we encountered a baby rattle snake on our
way up to the Y. pretty scary given that both
Bailey and her sis Mabel are very curious
pups. it rattled when we passes it. I hope you
can see it, its pretty camouflaged.

the view from the top of the Y was spectacular
and made the hard work up worthwhile, so i
think now, had you asked me the day of the
hike i would have said otherwise...haha

PROVO CANYON

This was funny! Mike was practically
forcing poor Bailey, who was freaked,
into the pond at the bottom of the
waterfall. She was holding on to dear
life trying not to go any further.

Finally Mike just grabbed her and
put her in the deeper end but she
refused to go on her four legs. She
was basically standing the whole
time with Mikes help of course and,
yes, her ears were back the entire
time! Can I say sad but...funny! hehe!

Thank goodness dogs mostly have
short term memories, for both Mike's
and Bailey's sake.

Mike brought lots of snacks to
keep him "hydrated and energized".

Most of our hike at Provo Canyon
went like this: Mike going one way
while Bailey chose the opposite
way.
