monkey trap

Have u ever heard of a monkey trap? I guess u could also call it a broderick trap. U put a treat or toy into a small jar, the "monkey" puts his hand in, makes a fist around the object and can't get his hand out. He will crawl around half the day with this jar on his hand. If u help him out, he will put the toy and then hand back in the jar all over again. Crazy monkey.

It just hit me...

My sweet baby has been 1 for a little while now and, although we are loving this age, I can't help but also feel sad about it. Although im thrilled that he is growing I've been reliving all of those precious past moments, Broderick has shared with us, by going through my pregnancy journal and reading all of the monthly updates on our blog. These are memories he will never remember but i will treasure for ever.
I remember how thrilled Mike and I were when we heard his little heart beat for the first time. This experience made it so real for the both of us. we were actually going to have a baby! On our first ultrasound session (i was 15 weeks into the pregnancy) the doctor predicted that we were in fact pregnant with a boy and although Mike didn't believe it i was so sure of it. I always wanted to start out with a boy and i was thrilled about it.
I was so anxious through out my pregnancy anticipating his arrival and i remember feeling so much love and joy when he was placed in my arms for the first time. I remember thinking how perfect and beautiful he was and promising that i would always love and take care of him.
I also remember being released from the hospital and feeling terrified and overwhelmed. How were we to keep this fragile little baby alive?
At home, the first couple of weeks were a little hard trying to adjust to our new lives. I remember feeling sad that he was no longer inside of me. I know that sounds strange but i felt empty inside. This whole time i was so anxious to meet him and now that i had him, i wanted him to be put back in me...Well really I wanted to hold him in my arms and kiss him but at the same time i wanted him inside of me hick-upping and kicking. I remember crying every time i would touch my tummy or look at my self in the mirror realizing once again that he was no longer in there.
I remember feeling so sleep deprived and fatigued the first couple of weeks wishing and praying for some shut eye. And as the months went by, i remember thinking each time one month passed by, how fast time was going. every one tells you that the first year goes by really fast but i guess i had no idea how fast they meant when they would tell me that. I feel so blessed to have him. he is our pride and joy and our every thought and prayer involves him.

Since i never got around to posting pics of Broderick's 1st B-day here are a few of that special day:

Hope Ya Know, We Had a Hard Time

My sister in-law recommended this video to me and i think it is one of the most inspiring and uplifting videos i've watched in a while. I think we can all relate in one way or another with the message shared. Its 3 mins long so its short but sweet :)

gender differences video...

So im back in school, FINALLY, and cant believe i have so little left before i actually graduate. I was suppose to be done before having Broderick but between not being able to go to school in the summer when i was first pregnant with him and having to take incompletes for fall semester because i was put on bed rest, it didn't work out. Before having my sweet baby the plan was to go back and finish school once i had him but as soon as he was placed in my arms i just couldn't see how i could survive not being with him at all times. So a whole year later i am finally back on track with my schooling and i am THRILLED to say the least. the best part about it is my schedule. I am only away from my monkey on Fridays starting at 5 and Saturdays from 7:30 to about 4 in the afternoon. Anyway, i'm taking a really fun class that surprisingly is required for my degree and this week we watched what i believe is the most hilarious video that speaks the truth about our gender differences, at least its right on when it comes to mike and me. watch it, ITS SOO FUNNY!

X-MAS pics with cousins & pups

Boy did i think our photo session would go smoother...what was i thinking??? It was almost impossible to get a six year old, a toddler, 2 babies and three crazy dogs to simultaneously look at the camera to take a picture. After giving the babies a sucker, pulling out millions of toys and taking hundreds of shots, this is the best we got. Just one smile but at least they are all looking straight ahead right?!
They were trooper though :)

TRICK-OR-TREAT

Halloween was a lot like the good ol' days this year since we had Broderick and his cousins with us and didn't feel so awkward knocking on doors and getting candy again. The weather was a bit horrible but we managed to go around the block and collect some goodies.
As for our costumes this year, we originally were gonna dress Broderick as Curious George and Mike was gonna be the man in the yellow hat but when Mike said that meant that i would have to be a big banana there was no way that was happening so we decided to dress up as a tigers this year. I painted Mikes face but luckily i found a mask so i didn't have to paint my own, it took Mike forever to take the face paint off. I don't think he'll let me paint his face next year :)
